Improving the "Public Realm" - Greenways/Streetscapes and Design Standards
An orderly and aesthetically-pleasing “public realm” is a critical
foundation element for any community. When a community demonstrates
its commitment to quality design and development ideals, then it is
much easier for them to require the same from their private sector
partners. Accordingly, I have developed a special affinity for
assisting cities with the improvement of their public rights-of-way
and the promotion of the new “public realm,” of greenways and
bikeways. Finally, I also have developed new design standards and
zoning ordinances for several communities seeking to not only order
their city through effective land use plans, but also provide order
and quality in the style and context of the development when it
occurs.
