Portfolio: Development Master Planning

In the early portions of my career, I was involved with numerous, large-scale master planning and development efforts. These experiences enabled me to develop relationships with local planners, politicians and other design professionals, while also teaching me the subtleties of image-making, branding and conducting effective public meetings. In the last several years, my role in my current organization has enabled me to re-kindle several of these relationships and “get back to my roots” of developing clients and master planning and developing communities. I am proud to say that, over the course of my 20 year career, my team has a 100% success rate on receiving the requested zoning and entitlements for my projects. Mixed Use Communities

  • Jones Foundation Property (Murfreesboro, TN) – 740 acres with 2,600 residential units and 2 million square feet of non-residential space
     

  • Franklin Commons Properties (Franklin, TN) – 600 acres with 700 residential units and 1.8 million square feet of non-residential space
     

  • Mt. Juliet Town Center (Mt. Juliet, TN) – 220 acres with 300 residential units and regional mall and outparcels (1.6 million square feet)

Commercial Experience

  • YUM Brands Restaurant Group (Taco Bell, KFC, and Pizza Hut) – Provide master planning, zoning, site development and program architecture services for YUM across Tennessee and Mississippi. Develop feasibility studies, zoning strategies and final plans to construct new facilities in an average of 70 days.
     

  • Neighborhood Retail Strip Centers for MarketLand, Inc (various locations across Southeast) – 10,000 to 100,000 square feet of commercial centers, generally located near or with Walmart and Kroger in Tennessee, Alabama, Kentucky and Mississippi
     

  • Industrial Park Master Plans and Development (various communities in Tennessee) – developed feasibility studies, grant applications and master plans for proposed industrial parks in 10 Tennessee and Alabama communities
     

  • Corroon and Black Plaza (Nashville, TN) – Developed master plan and zoning for 600,000 square foot corporate office space near Nashville Airport.

Residential Communities

  • Tracelands Golf Course Community (Williamson County, TN) – 1,200 acre residential/golf community located along the Natchez Trace Parkway. Viewshed protection and hillside preservation were key issues
     

  • Columbia Golf and Athletic Club (Columbia, TN) – 400 acre golf and residential community along Duck River.
     

  • Cooley’s Rift (Monteagle, TN) – 520 acre golf and residential community in mountain-top community. Second home market segment with golf academy and conference center.
